"The state IS bankrupt." But an immigrant from Austria is trying to solve the problem.

How much % of the bankrupcy should be ascertained to the illegals and how much to the residents?

<<Or were not those illegals that made California the fifth economy in the world?>>

Credit where credit is due...I suspect native-born and legal immigrants may have had a slight role in this. Not much perhaps but something.

ELMAT: Remember that CA was fulled by plenty moolah for defense business. No legal illegal could eat that moolah, security concerns, you know... That was state money feeding the locals! After Cold War ended, the locals dont have that teat to suck.

<<How many schools would have been closed down if there were not a constant stream of illegals kids?>>

Why are you making my point. I agree that without illegals a lot of schools would have been shut down, saving hundreds of millions of dollars.

ELMAT:: And perhaps making your wife teacher jobless?

And if you had any kids in some of these schools, you'd probably be happy if they shut them down today. California used to be #1 in the nation for education. Today its a pathetic broken system that limps along, spending a good portion of its time trying to communicate with people who speak up to 26 languages....which doesn't include English. Believe it - my wife was a teacher.

ELMAT: All that caused by the immigrants? How much of this debacle was caused by the immigrants and how much by the loalcas plus the edcuation system itself?

As for the stats, they come from the California Dept of Education. You can make up your own numbers if you like, just as Arun did (SURPRISE! My calculations fit my theory exactly!), but if anything the numbers are gross understatements.

You have deemed yourself smarter than the Swiss, the Australians, the French, then all of the the Europeans,

ELMAT: Not to mention the Germans!!!!

and probably just about every country in the world, since illegal immigration isn't really ignored to the extent that it is here, and in most cases is actively discouraged.

ELMAT: Look to Euroland and see the trouble they are in now!!! And it will get worse since they don't have the young blood and brains of the illegals the US has!!!

Congratulations - this must reflect your California education.

ELMAT: I am a drop out. Dropped out at the third year of high school in Brazil where I come from. Working as an expat for 23 years. Make more money than PhDs.

p.s. I REALLY resent that remark about working for the govt! Puh-leez! I make an honest living. Never worked for the govt and am ashamed at times that my teacher-wife does.

ELMAT: I withdrawn my remark since I'm not here to offend anyone. I knew that you had too much inside information on government. Just missed the source in your family.

But that makes my point: the problem is more of government misguided policies than the illegals.
