I'm an addictive type.

I quit smoking cigs many decades back and did it cold turkey; with a little help from candies and my knife and fork!

It took a little while, a couple of weeks/months, but I made it.

Fine - or so I thought!

Christmas arrived. We were presented with some fine stogies from our lawyer counterparts for giving them such a hard time (!!) over the past year and in the fond hope we would keep it up (!!) - it made them seem all the more valuable to their clients! I took one, said this ain't a ciggy, I can handle THIS. Smoked it, and continued smoking them (loved 'em) for years afterward. All based on that first offering.

Then I quit stogies - having immersed myself in a cloud of stogie smoke for a goodly number of years, my breathing was beginning to be effected. Didn't inhale, mind - but the cloud!

More cold turkey!

My brother-in-law visited Cuba and brought back some real fine stogies. He offers them to me on special occasions, but I MUST refuse - to my chagrin, believe me. No more cold turkey for me.

I think I've learned my lesson - addictive!
