I don't know. I think there is still a chance for Republicans to nominate someone worth of the American people, but I'm jaded now. If McCain gets nominated or Guliani, I might seriously consider it.

But frankly, I think the Democrats have a better chance of serving up a candidate that will be energy minded. It galls me to vote for Democrats, because I disagree on so many of their stances. However, today the biggest issue facing this country is NOT terrorism...it is energy.

And, steve, you know that I take a VERY dim few of Muslim extremists and have so very little sympathy for them or their alleged political causes and ridiculous justifications. So I think terrorism is a big threat and needs to be dealt with unflinchingly and squarely with absolutely zero political correctness, if we are to be effective.

However, despite all that, I still think energy is the biggest challenge facing this country. Our energy policies today are deciding for us whether we will continue to be a superpower a couple decades from now. It is deciding for us whether we will continue to be an economic powerhouse and whether will have to become increasingly hated and aggressive in our posture towards to the world or whether we will once again be a shining light for the world as we lead the whole world towards a greener, cheaper, safer, more stable form of energy consumption.

We are at one of those rare crossroads as a nation and the Bush/Cheney oilmen have failed us utterly. The good news is that this isn't an overnight threat. It's one that will take decades to creep up on us and it is one that we can address over a couple of decades. But we need to start now with a clear, unambiguous, non-pork bearing energy policy and legistlation to get us there. That will take someone not beholden to the Republican money machine. Let's see if we can elect that person.
