That in a dual trial scenario, civil and criminal. It is normal procedure to have your clients take the 5th amendment and ask for a delay in the civil proceedings. The thought being that 1)both the plantiff and the court system have limited resources and 2)that if the trials ran concurrently the prosecution would have an unfair advantage in being able to use material in one trial in the other trial. Sounded inefficient to me, but what do expect from our court system.
