Who funds them? Are there regular meetings that are public? Why don't we know about the "good" that they do as well as the "other..."

1. They are member-funded. Regular folks that pay membership dues.

2. It's a private organization, they aren't required to have public meetings.

3. Because it depends on what gets into the news. Not all ACLU lawyers are blowhards that rush to the press to trumpet their accomplishments. As in all things, controversy gets in the news. Most legal matters, even constitutional law, are boring, arcane, mundane, and not very sexy to a reporter.
