The Australian economy has performed very well. No recession since 1990. So far so good. It is good management. Almost no government debt. Tax rates would have come down more if the Opposition (who till now controlled the Senate) would have let the Liberal Party do it. The overall tax burden in Australia is very similar to the US. But it is distributed differently. No AMT for a start.
