Most people now disapprove of Bush's handling of the war, think the war was not worth it, that Bush lied about it and want a clear plan to bring the troops home.

It resembles Vietnam circa 1971. Promising Vietnamization and dignity but knowing it's a lost cause. The question then becomes, how do we retreat with the least amount of humiliation?

Ironically, the rightwing accused Kerry of being a traitor when he protested the war in 1971. But anyone who remembers that era knows it was the right thing to do at the time. 1966 would have been a very different matter.
