re:In four years of war, the US military sustained losses of 405,000 from all theaters of that war.

Okinawa was 50,000 alone - using japan to compare against itself is very reasonable. Yes - I believe that "nonsense".
Battle of Okinawa

Of course you would.

"Okinawa was the largest amphibious invasion of the Pacific campaign and the last major campaign of the Pacific War. More ships were used, more troops put ashore, more supplies transported, more bombs dropped, more naval guns fired against shore targets than any other operation in the Pacific. More people died during the Battle of Okinawa than all those killed during the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Casualties totaled more than 38,000 Americans wounded and 12,000 killed or missing, more than 107,000 Japanese and Okinawan conscripts killed, and perhaps 100,000 Okinawan civilians who perished in the battle. "

It was a lesser 12K dead and 38K wounded........not 50K. The battle of Okinawa was a desperate one because the Japanese knew the end was near and capture would have meant being tried for war crimes so many did suicidal bombings like the Muslims. Even the general in that battle suicided. In addition, a monsoon struck the island during the battle adding to the death totals.

Please also note the effort to excuse the dropping of two nukes on Japan in the above paragraph. Of course, once again, in Amerian fashion, they chose to use the numbers at the very low end of the death range for Hiroshima and Nagasaki..........even as those numbers have been questioned repeatedly over their veracity.
