No doubt, the sudden act of aggression by Stalin declaring war on Japan just 2 days after Hiroshima no doubt contributed to Truman's decision to drop the 2nd bomb.
By stating an example of warning against any ideas of further action Stalin may have in Western Europe or Asia.
Didn't prevent him from moving in on and occupy the Japanese Northern Territory of 4 islands north of Hokkaido just 2 weeks later though.
No doubt Truman had to make up for some of the naive dealings by ailing FDR falling for the charms of ole Joe.
