You can really see it when you study early American history, the struggle to develop a viable and trustworthy independent monetary system.

Nobody understood money. In fact, it took the depression and Friedman to finally clear the air. They are still shadowboxing about it, but at least they understand what inflation is and how to keep it under control.

It's amazing we grew as fast as we did with no money. Of course, it was Europe that was financing us.
