Spoke with my sister recently. One of her sons, my fav. BTW lives in London and also Australia, and he doesn't even own a car. He makes large bucks also. In London their bus and rail systems are awesome and quite efficient. Gas there is about $7 a gallon, and the cars they use are mostly very small.
In other words they plan around being gouged by gas prices.
America's infrastructure, on the other hand is antiquated and designed horribly to deal with the coming peak oil we hear about from Wharfy and others.
Wharfy sent me a tape called "The End Of Suburbia" and it is just great in explaining how we must change from our current long distance daily travel by horrible gas guzzlers etc. I learned more from that 90 minute movie than all knowledge I had prior to it.
