Phoenix was the reason they were in Cambodia. Study the history. It's not all classified. I just posted something on it. Smearvet types will deny Phoenix ever happened, but they know damn well it did. I'll bet some of those anti-Kerry smearvets were involved. We know O'Neill was at least once. Read the book "Everything We Had" and the chapter by the Navy SEAL called "Green Ghosts". He was one of the ones they ferried into Cambodia and other hot zones to assassinate. Since choppers were too loud, they often took SwiftBoats. Just like APOCALYPSE NOW. That movie had a basis in fact. The writer John Milius got a lot of it from a vet who was also part of Phoenix. Like in that movie, the CIA really ran everything. They had a theory that surgical terrorism and assassinations could scare at-risk villagers into saying "no" to the VC. It didn't work for a variety of reasons. Thousands died in the process. Many heads were cut off. No joke.
