Yes, logically we did lose the moral high ground by using nuclear weapons in Japan. I think that many people all over the world were somehow able to put that aside for many decades, because America was very much liked in most of the world for a long period of time after the war. And we helped so many nations recover in the post-war period.

Now that we have become an aggressive, warrior nation in attacking Iraq, even Communist China is more popular than the United States. I think obviously America is being looked at more critically in general, and the anniversary of the Japan bombings is yet another opportunity to do that.
