"I don't think Kristol understands the economy or our military. He has an heavy political agenda. He is bad for our economy and he is bad for our military."

Kristol is one of the original supply siders so he indeed understands the economy. The problem is that when you are fighting a war and soldiers are dying, you dont not act vigorously in response because of a fear of budget deficits. Like Vietnam we are trying guns and butter in the WOT and in iraq and it just doesnt work. There is a disconect.
Oil is at $63 per barrell. How much oil is used in the military effort that helps drive up the price? Forget civilian use where there is still little conservation. Maybe we need some rationing as in WW2 so we become less dependent on mideast oil and break the price to boot. Of course i am joking with a suggestion like that but i am serious about the lack of sacrifice made by americans in this war while our sons and daughters die every day. Wars need to have consequences on the home front too and there must be popular support and if there is not, we shouldnt fight them and let the chips fall where they may. Mike
