Think about the Patriot Act on steroids. Even when I disagree with the ACLU - I know they are trying to defend freedom, same for the NRA - these are our rights as defined by the Bill of Rights they are defending them from the only force that can take them away - our own government. Ask the English hunter about gradualism toward the ban.

The constitution says that we have the right to bear arms. It doesn't say that this right comes without regulation and responsibility. It doesn't say what types of arms either. The NRA bucks regulation, not absolute freedom. There's no chance the gun community would lose the freedom to own guns, with it written in the constitution. The British example is NA for that reason, if no other.
