I don't support regulation for ineffective feel good reasons - reasonable legislation means a clear goal, with changes that will meet that goal. For example banning bayonet lugs will not stop criminals from using guns - if your goal was to reduce crime. Safety locks to protect children only work if people use them but providing them is a way to remove the excuse and liability to the manufacturer or seller.
