I live in Utah, and my main concern is that they will destroy a lot of beautiful empty canyonland, good only for appreciating other than for the oil shale that's there. You can smell the greed setting in.

My brother used to live in Montrose. Was that the area?

Sorry about your troubles - they sound similar to a lot of oil patch tales. I'm originally from Texas - lots of oil boom and bust there. My maternal grandfather went from pauper to millionaire to pauper as an oilman.
