Great analysis! There's a lot that goes into American politics. Congress changes hands when something significant changes in the country, like the realignment in 1994, which was an extension of the conservative drift that started with Reagan's election in 1980. Eventually, at some point in the 21st Century, the Dems are going to retake Congress. The question is, will 2006 be a watershed election in which the Dems seize on the current mood to win a majority.

I don't really think it will matter much actually. Rs, Ds, both mean war and a generally regressive social policy that favors the rich, although a bit less regresive under Ds.
