Some argue "why do you need that gun" - I don't, I want that gun. Rights are not required to pass a needs test, I don't need to vote, I want to, it's my right. I agree that's a losing approach for the gun control advocates. Whether you need a gun is not the issue. Whether you want a gun is an issue, but a small one. The big issue is whether society is better off if you have a gun. I think the debate should center around whether society is better off with gun ownership heavily regulated or more laissze (sp??) faire. I'm generally in favor of laws that make it harder for individuals to buy and own guns, especially the non-sporting guns that are more commonly used in crimes or household violence.
