Well don't get too giddy Einstein. President Bush had a 92% approval rating in 1991 and looked like a shoe-in to win in 1992, and lost.

It seems like the more rightwing partisans amongst us are a bit in denial about the mood of the country right now. The polls are showing growing dissatisfaction with the Iraq war. Now almost 2 to 1 against. The economy is pretty strong, but not helping Bush out very much, with his approval ratings at all time lows. Smell the coffee, people aren't happy and an unhappy populace votes for change.

I do agree that the electoral college has shifted in favor of Republicans. The gains in the electoral college are in Red Republican states and the losses are in Blue Democratic states. But, it would only take a small shift in sentiment for the Dems to pick up a couple of mariginal red states and win a Presidential election. Hillary would be the wrong candidate to run to win those marginal states. But, a Dem from the MidWest or South could do the trick. The Democrats are doing fairly well on the level of Governor in the MidWest these days.
