It is interesting how Moses viewed things then and there when he struck the rock -- and then later. At that time he was very angry with the people (called them rebels) -- his anger blinded him -- that's a good lesson for me. Our anger usually makes it hard for us to hear God clearly -- wrong focus.

Later Moses recounts the story and again blames the people.

I think God was very gracious to him in that he let him see the promised land before he died.
