According to a survey commissioned by Qwest Communications International Inc., 60 percent of Arizona-based businesses use some aspect of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). In addition, according to the survey, 80 percent of information technology managers plan to install new or upgraded VoIP services within the next six months. The Qwest-sponsored survey was performed this month by Impulse Research Corp. and involved 102 Arizona IT professionals, all members of the CyberPulse Advisory Panel.
According to the survey responses, 60 percent said that cost savings were the primary driver of VoIP installation and 40 percent cited availability of services and improved productivity.
"The findings show that VoIP is quickly reaching mainstream business and it's not just for technical companies," said Eric Bozich, Qwest vice president for national network services. "What's more, the key reasons for implementing VoIP are fairly split between cost and features."
