When the Baathists came to power in Iraq, it was 1968 (a relative of his, took power). In 1968, the Democrats controlled the Congress, Senate and the Presidency. When Saddam formally came to power in 1979, at the time Democrats controlled the Congress, Senate and Presidency - you calling Jimmy Carter and LBJ the "conservative wing of America"??
