I think Bush has demonstrated our weaknesses much more than reinforcing the idea of our strength, as his father did. After Gulf War I, no one had any doubt about American military superiority after the dazzling victory. The image wasn't confused by attempting any futile, failed nation building after. The father was a much wiser man than the son.
