"I think Bush has demonstrated our weaknesses much more than reinforcing the idea of our strength, as his father did. After Gulf War I, no one had any doubt about American military superiority after the dazzling victory. The image wasn't confused by attempting any futile, failed nation building after.

The father was a much wiser man than the son. "

That sounds true but think about it some and it you might change your opinion. Post Gulf war we ended up with constant military engagements under clinton, sanctions which led to the death of thousands and the continued brutal regime of saddam. Have you forgotten that? Perhaps in pre-bin laden/terrorism 1990, if we had taken out saddam we would have had a far better outcome. So the father back then should perhaps have been less cautious and the son at this time a bit more. I was never impressed by bushes or clintons and we seem to be stuck with those royal families. Bring back the Kennedys and the Rockefellers i say.
