Then why was this such a major topic of discussion during Constantine's time?

Interestingly enough, there can be scientific proof that the practice of Buddhism, even for as little as few months, has great verifiable benefits for the practicioner. I don't think other religions can say that about themselves.

Incidentally, Buddha never claimed a Divine mission or even inspiration.
