The founding fathers said the consitution was written for a Christian people and that it was wholly inadequate for any other. The reason was that so much was left out about moral conduct. And today we see the result of that as gay marriage is condoned and woman killing their children is made leagl by the courts. They only wanted to avoid a "state religion". They were keenly aware of the political struggles between the Catholics and Protestents and how the blood flowed when a ruling elite took a side.
