This is my son's mother. Don't take her lightly for she represents not only my son's mother but also the current mood in the country.

......Sheehan arrived in Texas on Saturday, seeking a sit-down with Bush and pledging to stay there for his whole vacation if she didn't get one. Her son, Army Spec. Casey Sheehan, 24, was killed last year five days after arriving in Iraq, and she wanted the commander-in-chief himself to explain why.

Now her one-woman vigil is evolving into something more -- and into something of a headache for the Bush administration, which is facing the stirrings of an anti-war protest with enough media attention to make Sheehan's throat raw from interviews. Sheehan has been joined by dozens of war protesters, including at least three from families who lost a soldier in Iraq. And yesterday, the 48-year-old California mother dismissed Bush's sympathetic words.

"All we're asking is that he sacrifice an hour out of his five-week vacation to talk to us, before the next mother loses her son in Iraq," Sheehan said.

Her arrival in Texas comes at an already difficult time for the president over Iraq, with his administration seeming to send mixed messages on a possible withdrawal of some drawdown of U.S. troops and Americans giving him some of his lowest marks yet on handling Iraq.

And the White House is showing signs that it is worried about Sheehan emerging as the kind of rallying figure anti-war activists have been seeking.
