I have seen some calculations that indicate that the greatest stimulative impacts on the national economy over the past few years have been (in order): 1) Fed-engineered liquidity 2) Housing (refis, etc.) 3) Defense spending increases 4) national tax policy changes.

Note however, that a nation cannot borrow it's way to growth *forever*.
