Not sure I understand what you are saying -- I didn't say you weren't thinking -- just defending Neeny's request as a legitimate thing to pray for -- not outside the domain or purview of God.

Didn't James say -- what is important when you pray is -- your motives?? Even Jesus told us to ASK for our daily bread -- this HONORS God who gives us these things.

Material things must be dealt with -- they are means, not ends -- yes, we let these things take over sometimes and become "ends."

If I am praying -- I am giving GOD my attention -- what could be bigger than that. It is true I can approach Him with wrong motives, but if I do and I am sincere in my faith -- will He not also reveal to me that my motives are wrong??

I will not hesitate to pray for business ventures, for being able to accomplish what others consider the mundane, for any need great or small -- as I pray and I consider what He says -- that's how I get aligned, but first is perspective -- WHO God is -- What He is capable of -- What He has already done for me -- as those relate to who I am -- by His grace.

No, I don't approach God as some Santa-in-the-sky -- He is God -- all-powerful and all-knowing. I certainly don't want to tell others what they cannot pray for ... far be it from me.

Perhaps I misunderstood your post.

Philippians 4:6 (New American Standard Bible)
New American Standard Bible (NASB)

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
