Not unless they can shrink it and reduce the weight. I question the article's accuracy, as the website mentions, for one, that the hi freq is about 18K, for the hi SPL units and the article indicates 20K. However, maybe they made improvements and haven't updated the website.
I've been watching them for over a year, fwiw, and will continue to do so.
ATC's LRAD can reach out a mile under good conditions, MRAD is 95 dB at 500 yards, 1/3 mile. I wouldn't expect that the local constabulary would have need of a unit, ours or theirs, that can holler a mile. 6 blocks should be sufficient in most cases.
ATC is working on ERAD, which is said to reach out even farther than the LRAD .
