Thanks John....but I don't think you understood my question. I do respect your opinion, and of course, that it is from the left view usually.
So many posts here just don't tell the whole story. Sometimes, we just 'think what we think' ..."thank you very much." But sometimes, we are actually 'exploring' what we actually think by even taking the time to put something down on the board here....
What I wanted to convey was that, while I live in the heart of liberal-latte-land here on the leftcoast....what I've found is that most of the people I talk to that differ from what I personally think, won't discuss their thoughts. They don't want to know another view point. Just theirs is what counts. Somehow, I don't perceive that from you. That's why I asked if you could/would sometimes share your own viewpoint with us.
For instance, I believe that all people, no matter the color of their skin, or economic background, etc...are equal. If someone has a poor background, either financially, or in mental capability, there are certainly public agencies to help the person work through the problems they face.
I don't believe that robbing/taking money from others is the way to do it continually. If we as a society continue to make the people (who may need help for awhile but not for the rest of their lives) wards of the state, those people will never become productive citizens. I don't think making people feel subservient is a fair thing to do to people.
Another for instance....I had dinner with 5 friends last week. Of the 6 of us, 4 were very liberal in their political views...the new gas tax that was just imposed by the Dem Gov, House and Senate of WA majority, on the citizens of the State, making it now the highest gas tax in the Nation was brought up in conversation. I suggested this new gas tax (9 1/2 cents added per gallon to the already high state tax) should be repealed.
4 thought otherwise. Turns out not a single one of them knew that there was NO plan in the new tax to help alleviate any of the massive traffic snarls we currently endure, and there was NO plan, NOR budget for part of the proposed spending of the Billions it was to bring in....Not one of the four of them knew that!!!! And all are in positions of public visibility, and all have a vote....
Anyhow, I do appreciate your comments here, even if sometimes we don't agree....
What I said before....
That's a serious question John....You are so opposite to some here, that I really wonder *why* you think the way you do, and *what* you would do to remedy the situation.
If you do choose to discuss whatever policy, it would be more than most Dems that I know and talk to personally. Most express their opinion, and then don't want to talk any more about it. Somewhat a "don't confuse me with your opinion, or for heavensakes, don't confuse me with any substantial backup...."
Most Repubs I talk to, on the other hand, can and will discuss issues, and no one huffs off, or stops the conversation entirely, when someone doesn't agree.... |
