No to both questions. All the present hoopla about the conflict of interest is the usual stuff from columnists like Deborah Oren, a long time right wing columnists.

So if Deborah Oren says the sun rises in the East, you can dismiss it as right-wing agitprop? You don't have to acknowledge any fact if you can badmouth the source?

Gorelick's conflict of interest was always plain and has now become doubly obvious. Straight-shooting commissions don't need to lie about "not having heard" evidence that casts doubt on their published conclusions, especially when that brushed-under-the-rug evidence touches on the committe chair's own past actions.
