He's not losing anything. He is defending her right to protest, not that he's going to do a damn thing about it. The troops will come home when the Iraqis get control over the violence in their country. Meanwhile, our soldiers will stay put to protect the new government. It's that simple. However, the people that didn't agree with him before will oppose him again, regardless the excuse. The people that did agree with him will support him again.

A dialogue can only take place if both sides are willing to change. Since there is no way that either side is going to budge, there isn't much sense in having a conversation in the first place. She is like a bully invite someone to an afterschool fight. "Come over here so I can call you a liar to your face, you insensitive SOB." That is her basic platform. It's stupid for anyone in this country to expect the President to engage her name calling.

If and when she calms down and removes the offensive signs, she might begin to establish some credibility. There is no way the President is going to show up with all of the signs calling him a liar.
