I listen at her tell me she wants awesome sports car with stereo system that costs more than car, wants brad pitt for boyfriend (not husband because husbands are so 1950's) or maybe mandy moore for girlfriend (heterosexuality so 60's) and is going to be the next madonna. I tell her you do not watch stargate atlantis? Or battlestar galactica - or even martha stewart maybe - she said no that all for geeks and losers. Ah - more similarities el mat - young girl I knew wanted dog she saw on frasier tv show - boston terrier - she believe everything she see on TV I guess - what was it michael moore say - TV NATION - so she get man to buy her this dog - boston terrier bred to hunt foxes I think - like to bite and chew all her furniture and shoes - she get mad at dog - tell boyfriend why he get such asshole dog and cuss him out - he go to dog seller - dog seller tell him most boston terriers like that dog - too many silly girls think all boston terriers like the one on that TV show FRAZIER - they give dog to pound. Now my US air force friend call me - he say his new girlfriend want a dog - a beagle - like snoopy from peanuts - well they find out this dog very needy - and it whine a lot (maybe schulz had this one right - I remember snoopy whining a lot) - and they take it to pound cause the REALITY not go along with cartoon fantasy sold to this young girl - and guys at pound tell them yes we have lots of beagles - people want to buy them to be cool and trendy and then give them to us when they find out how much work they are. SO there went 500 dollars up in smoke.
That girl is the daughter of a rich family. Parents don't have money but the girls grand parents have mucho moolah!

In AMerica, 3 generations back, the old were the poorest segment of society - they could not go buy granddaughter any little silly whim she had - today that is the opposite - I meet granddad that so needy for granddaughters attention - he buy her car, take her to expensive dinner, buy her gifts, brittney concert, cruise, take her big shopping trips - I take granddad outside - I say listen here you stingy selfish fugger - you are HOGGING all the big things I can do for/with this girl - time and adventures that can help our relationship grow - you will be dead soon - and she will have this inflated expectation that all the men should be able to do what you have done for her - this setting her up for a fall - dont you see what you doing - he get mad with me - HAHA! I tell him how would you like it if when you was 20 I came and got the girl you were dating at the time and took her away from you with big gifts and expensive adventures - but he not want to put himself in my shoes.
At first I think it just this one granddad - after dating several more girls - trend repeats - grandparents hogging all girls time and attention - not letting her mesh with peers - giving her far more than young guy of girls similar age - they have same problem as corporate CEO's only worried about the short term and thier own needs. Not worrying about granddaugther being a good long term citizen, the family she may need to start in a few years, future tax payers that could be birthed from that family.
The grand parents had difficult life, their kids had difficult life, then they got money late in life. Now they are putting two generations of money into a single little girl!!!
Oh my GOD el mat - why are you not preaching this more - this is one of the KEY reasons modern USA is SUNK - you hit it on the head - they are taking 3 generations of productivity acquired over a lifetime and sinking it into little child in matter of just a few years - Distorting this childs world view of what a sustainable society is - Jared Diamond hitting the crack pipe on this one issue - my native american indian friend, he say these women he used to build corian counter tops for - they tear up fine marble kitchen for the latest trend they read in HOMES and GARDEN - they are just so flippant with thier wants and needs - because mom and dad or grandma and grandad spoiled them rotten and it is just unsustainable long term. Now I don't know your observations, but here, in my society, the little girls getting spoiled far more than little boys, I see families at walmart or the mall and little boy wearing tattered shirts and shoes and never get what he want, but little girl have the latest new fashions and get all the gifts she ask for - and this upset me because why are they picking on the girl to spoil?
They just dump money into her. The problem is she likes my experiment. If i explain this to her she will understand and stop buying bags.
I hope so El Mat, I have tried and tried to talk to my sisters, my friends, so many others, its all a waste of time. Indian friend, he had 2 daughters, he was not rich, but he spent a lot of quality time with his daughters - fishing, bicycle, pool, not EXPENSIVE activites, but they had lots of fun, but as they got 10, 11, 12 , 13 - other RICH families would call momma - say we are going to the mall, we are going to the adventure park, we are going on a cruise to bahamas, we are going to red lobster - and they offer to bring his girls, and he say to wife - NO WAY - we going fishing - me and my girls gonna have a good day together as a family - and momma bitch and fuss and say NO - so the daughters go off with rich family - not even blood related and get spoiled, daddy see he cannot compete with money of rich families - daughters used to be nice I think - but then they get spoiled, start wanting way more than parents can provide - stop having much to do with parents, parents divorce - momma says it all daddys fault, daddy say WOMAN - you are the one that didn't want me and you and our daughters going fishing or swimming at the pool - because they deserved bahamas cruise and 300 dollar jeans that other family bought them, now daughters are older - shopping machine money suckers - momma hates them now - calls them her little monsters - rich family has nothing to do with them anymore - got too expensive for even them - daddy tells me no man or lesbian woman would ever be able to afford his daughters - and all this could have turned out different if momma had let them go fishing with him instead of letting them go shopping for 200 dollar jeans with the joneses. |
