GoodNet upgrades and expands high-speed ATM backbone with MainStreetXpress 36170 Multiservices Switch
HERNDON, Virginia, Sept. 10 /CNW-PRN/ - GoodNet, an Internet Service Provider with National Service Provider (NSP) status, has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Newbridge Networks, a global market leader in wide area network (WAN) asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) equipment. GoodNet will deploy the Siemens / Newbridge MainStreetXpress(TM) 36170 Multiservices Switch and the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager to expand and upgrade its nationwide ATM Internet backbone. GoodNet's rapidly expanding network now extends to over 24 American cities, providing fast, reliable Internet connectivity for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and businesses.
``We have been building a network that can scale to accommodate the needs of any client and we believe we can best accomplish this with managed ATM networks from Newbridge Networks,'' said David Jemmet, Chief Executive Officer, GoodNet. ``The MainStreetXpress 36170 ATM switch is extremely scalable, and, because it's a multiservice platform, it opens up more options for future service offerings. Additionally, the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager provides a strong set of management capabilities.''
The ATM solution from Newbridge Networks enables GoodNet to enhance and expand the wide range of Internet services it offers, including public dial-up access, dedicated connections for organizations and municipalities of all sizes, complete World Wide Web solutions, and Internet backbone connection for local ISPs. ``GoodNet's philosophy is very closely aligned with the Newbridge philosophy that an ATM core is essential in delivering the fastest and most reliable service possible,'' said Mike Pascoe, President, Newbridge Networks, Inc. ``We look forward to working with GoodNet as it rapidly expands its network.''
After extensive competitive trials, GoodNet selected the MainStreetXpress products based on superior scalability and network management capabilities.
