When Bill Richardson is willing to do this, you know things are bad.

It's the predictable "unintended" consequence of beefing up security at the usual crossing points. They cross at points that are less favorable, but unguarded.

The other predictable "unintended" consequence is that the ones who are already here or are able to get here will stay here, put down roots, and raise families here, rather than make money and go back home to spend it. More anchor babies, too.

One of the things poisoning the discourse is the total hypocrisy. I know I argue in favor of hypocrisy, but it's becoming absurd. The only honest answer is a guest worker program.
