If I didn't say "illegal" before every use of the word "immigrants," please, excuse me.

But I don't know what difference it makes when you have "blanket amnesty" under Reagan, which was suppose to fix the problem back in the early eighties, and was just trading citizenship for votes.

Remember that?

And now you have Bush's "bracero" program, which is just more pandering to the Hispanic vote.

These politicos keep it up, citizenship isn't going to be worth more than it takes to buy a vote.

It is dogma among Republican activists that Hispanjics are the future of the party, eg. Peggy Noonan's recent article.

I heard the same damn thing from David Horowitz eight years ago.

Shhh, Republicans can't talk anout illegal immigration for fear of being smeared with racism and losing the Hispanic vote.

Shhh. Look at what happened to Pete Wilson when he backed Prop. 228. That's why the party is in such trouble in California.

Bull pucky.

The moral argument has to be framed in such a way that it permits the borders to be closed.

Not the excuses that advocates are coming up with now.
