....And now for the rest of the story!!
Did you know God has a sense of humor?? Maybe I am not sure the story I am about to tell is God's humor. I do think that the seeming twist on this story will bring a smile and a sense of wonder to people's faces.
Here's some back round and an update to my prayer request of August 11. Last August, Mike and I purchased a house with 2 silent partners, one namely being my brother. The goal was to restore the house and resell it. That is the house I was speaking about in my prayer request. Things have worked out well in this adventure all with the exception of the house being sold. I guess what I am saying is that some people questioned if my brother and I could make this work, as we are both rather strong willed. With very few minor differences this has been a really good experience. Praise God. So much so that in Feb we had purchased another house. We bought it quite cheap, but it needed a good bit of work. Work that is not yet completed, but that is ok. Prior to buying the house in Feb, we had put a bid in on another house through HUD. Due to some complications on HUD's part, that contract was taking way too long to be closed, so we bought the other house in Feb. When I posted my message asking for prayer for the first house to sell, I did not give much detail, but I must say I was getting a tad bit nervous about it, mainly because the closing to purchase the 3rd house was on the 12th. I made my prayer request on the 11th. As you all know it was a simple request. I ask for a buyer for a house I had for sale in the Pittsburgh area. Can anyone guess where I am going with this story??
Yesterday afternoon at 4:00, I closed on the 3rd property. The house really did not need much work, but maybe a fresh coat of paint. I promised my husband, I would put a "For Sale" sign in the window, "the day I close on the house." After the closing yesterday, I drove to the property, we changed the locks and formed a plan for the painting. Before I left, I took a "For Sale by owner" sign and taped it in the window. My 9 year old ask me why I was putting the sign up already. I told him that I had promised his Dad that I would do that, and I wanted to be true to my word. We left the house around 7:15 last night.
The sale sign has my brothers phone number on it, because he is local to the area. Today at 1:00, he got a phone call inquiring about the house. The man said he drove past the house around 7:00 p.m. last night, saw the sign and got the phone number. The couple scheduled to see the house today at 4:00. By 5:15, they were heading back down the road, by then, on a hand shake they had agreed to purchase the house, AS IS. It seems that they had looked at the house previously. They are pre-approved for a loan.
I am claiming this in the name of Jesus!!
I guess I was not specific enough in my prayer about which house in the Pittsburgh area I wanted a buyer for!! God does have a sense of humor!!
Either way, I am rejoicing, as the quick sale of this house will ease the financial burdens my brother is facing with us trying to do this as his "job."
