Well, the Soviets didn't annihilate the entire country or the world, although sometimes I think they certainly did try to do various things. But they didn't do it. AQ has done, and did do, several things, including 9-11. I mentioned several more in my post to you. So they certainly are an immediate threat, as far as I am concerned. Are you disagreeing that because they already have done quite a few "things" to this country, that now they are finished and that we should just ignore them from here on in??? I think the Soviets were a huge threat...we lived in the NE part of the US when Kruschev pounded on the UN podium with his shoe, and when he had sent missiles into Cuba. Good thing he was faced down by Kennedy. I wonder what would have happened had the exact situation happened today....Would the anti-war folks have stopped Kennedy in the 13 days we had before the confrontation was finished? Mine was that the threat from the Soviets, the potential annihilation of the entire country if not the world, was worse. Are you disagreeing with that?
