Your posts cause me much trouble. When one with links is posted I begin to follow the links embedded within the stories. Associated websites. News releases for companies. Logical trails of truth and they all lead back to the same summary. It takes me an hour to wade myself through some of them. This is very similar to college lectures and thesis work. So much trouble........ Faced with the facts, American still refuse to react with any viable solution to dealing with peak oil. Consumption to a level of basic survival gear such as seeds, tools and sustainable products will have to occur almost instantly if peak oil's shadow begins to grip our country. We are not ready as a nation. We are not ready at state level, county level and in most cities or towns on a regional level. The totality with which conditions will worsen in the event of a supply shortage of oil will occur almost instantly nationwide. An audit of available resources must begin now in order to find solutions for immediate emergencies that will begin once disorder levels are achieved due to lack of resources as basic as food, water and transportaion. These inventories must begin from the bottom and work their way up. A complete inventory of ones own assets that are available including money, savings, investments, tools, shelter, transportation, medications, food stocks, water supplies and self protection should be done as soon as possible. We need to fill in the blanks of missing items as quickly as possible. Anyone with a completed inventory that has acquired the basic tools to survive in almost any situation could see themselves become an island that will attract people that want to share these resources. That is why community is so vital to retaining resource. There are websites that have the inventories needed already in place. Downloading these lists one can begin to see how inadequate they may be for even a slight disturbance in their normal daily routine. Never fear. Any preparation has a profound effect. It helps one to begin to view themselves back in charge of their own life and care. To be able to truly provide for yourself down to the level of food is a very empowering feeling. It teaches respect for life and the cycle of existence. Cataloging these websites and having the more important content available off the site onto a localized hard drive on every computer is critical as this information will discontinue to be available due to internet outages that can be expected from time to time. Burning this information to CD's is also vital. This work is not for the fearful. It begins with the fear that we may not have the power within us to survive and moves toward an understanding that with each change we make within our own life an awakening of something more powerful has begun to change us. We seem to see things with clarity and understand what is true and what is a lie. That empowerment allows us to take control of our life back. No more WalMart excess is a by product. No more wasting food is a by product. No more fear or uncertainty as to whether or not we have power. Is a byproduct. This alone is enough to keep me working toward a solution for my own life. Seeing the vastness of adventure that the world is about to embark upon is overwhelming but has a certain allure to it. The next 50 years can certainly be the brightest period in mankinds history. Or the darkest chapter yet. We are allowed that choice. I posted somewhere last week that everyone will have to find one truth to become involve in. Like Cindy Sheehan has found. One thing to work on and work on it. Mine is sustainablitiy. I am allowed that choice. That is what makes America strong. Our freedom of choice. It must be exercized to make it strong. We have not exercized nearly enough. Time to begin to flex our muscles. If we choose to. Everything is about choice. Bill
