We tried Vonage because it was so much cheaper than Verizon. It worked great for a while but then we started having trouble with one end "dropping" - after maybe 10 or 15 minutes one person could no longer hear the other. Vonage and Comcast just pointed fingers at each other so we finally went back to Verizon as we have a home-based business and need dependable phone service. OTOH, we have friends with Vonage who have never had a problem. If I were you I would get it, especially since you have a cell phone as backup.
