The swimmingpool scene in the film "The Graduate" explains, a lot, why the children of the wealthy are succcessful on their own right.

Benjamin is out of college. Hasn't yet chosen a career. The swimmingpool party is to celebrate his graduation.

He's congratulated by one of his father friend, who tell him:

"Benjamim, Just one word: 'Plastics' " (it was the late 60s.)

That scene explains, a lot, why children of the wealthy, by their own devices, will be wealthy too.

Being a children of wealthy people has several benefits:

You get advice even without being asked on how to be successful in a sector that is booming.

You're offered a few females of wealthy families eager to marry them with similar males.

Your parents are eager to see you get to business and worry if you're not jumin gto those opportunities.

The Graduate is an illustrative film. Pity I can't rent tonight and watch it once again under this perspective.
