I understand why she wants a media event. She explained that to the media herself. Bush has been very detached in what goes on around him. Called her "mom" during the entire meeting and called her son "our hero". Could have been more personal by caring to know her name and that of the soldier. I can understand if he did not know the names of the capital cities of countries but surely this is not excusable.
