Of course I believe Rom 8:28. That verse deals with every believer on a personal level. I also believe Rev. 2:10 .... Jesus said, "Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life." Jesus did not promise a miraculous rescue to everyone. He did not promise a pre-trib rapture. He expects many to suffer and die for Him. Causing all things to work for good in God's eyes might not be the same as what man's idea of that verse would be.

I am not being smarter than Jesus. Jesus does not know the DAY or the HOUR and neither do I but the Word says a wise man can see the signs of the times. And the Word provides plenty of sign posts. Jesus knows the signs of the times much better than me, so I am not smarter than Jesus.

There has to be a "watchman on the wall" to shout a warning. How do you know God has not put that on my heart for that reason, to shout a warning. But my experience is that the city sleeps and will not wake up and listen. The Word says that their blood is then on their own heads if they refuse to listen to the warning.
