250 Miles Per Gallon is Incorrect. You need to account for the electrical consumption and the number of gallons of gasoline (or equivalent) it takes to create that electrical energy, transport it and use it to charge the batteries. That said, let me add that hybrid vehicles are the most sensible near term approach in dealing with efficiency and emission issues.
