I think you probably merged to of my comments regarding regarding currentpoisting rates relative to the all-time high.

iHub is setting new all-time posting highs weekly, and between the two sites are close to matching the all-time SI highs.

Anecdotally, John Hollen made the 10 millionth PM just two days ago. Those were not introduced until mid 1999 and naturally are not considered in your calculation. Toss another 10 million posts over the past 66 years into the calculations and it paints a somewhat different picture. PMs have clearly been a two-edged sword in eliminating some of the noise from the public boards while at the same time cannibalizing them.

Then there are all of the other metrics like ad impressions delivered, ad clicks, pages viewed, counts of unique posters, visitors, active boards, registrations, reactivations, all broken out by genre, and viewed on different moving average periods and intervals in order to weed out most of the noise.
