Shades Re: "planners" These "stock gurus" like Phil have a really tough selling job; they have to convince the sheep that they are able to predict where a stock is going tomorrow, next week or next month, depending on the time horizon and style of the individual guru. They must convince you of this or otherwise you won't listen to their show, buy their newsletter or subscribe to their online service. It is a tough gig and even a tougher sales job but many of them are really good at the sales part. But when it comes to the stock picking part, its been my experience that not many of them are very good at it. Like I say, its a tough gig.

But with these planners, look what a difficult task they have taken on. They have to convince you that they are able to see way far beyond next week or next month and to be able to know what investments will provide the optimum return decades from now. And if they are unable to convince the sheep that they have this ability then it is unlikely that they will have any takers for their program, which involves them taking over your portfolio and charging a one percent annual fee on the gross assets. Its a fools errand, of course as no planner knows any better than anyone else what the future, especially the distant future, will bring. <g>
