I hadn't thought of it that way. I was thinking more along the lines that no one ever really knows the true dynamics of a marriage except the people in the marriage. Who hasn't seen what "everyone" thought was the perfect marriage suddenly dissolve into a bitter protracted divorce reminiscent of the "War of the Roses?" And then there are the marriages "everyone" knows must surely have been made in Hell that survive year after year, decade after decade. Absent ample supporting evidence, it seems to me that speculation about such things as motive and intent serves little useful purpose. JMO. Your mileage may vary, of course.
