Now this is sort of interesting. Japan has AGAIN apologized for WW2, and evidently the Prime Minister has decided to stop visiting Yasukuni shrine (which honors Japan's war dead, including those convicted in the Japanese "Nuremburg" trials).

Now I'll bet that even though Japan's neighbors (especially China) have called for both of those things repeatedly, the neighbors will act as if neither occurred, and just keep telling Japan how bad it was and that it needs to apologize again tomorrow. Sometimes international "diplomacy" just sucks!

"Japan is resolved to contribute to world peace and prosperity without starting a war again," the prime minister said in the statement, which the Cabinet approved earlier yesterday.

In the statement, Koizumi said Japan had caused tremendous damage and suffering to Asian countries due to its colonial rule and military aggression. "We humbly accept this kind of historical fact and express anew our deep remorse and sincere apology," he said.

How soon until you think some Chinese official starts up demanding Japan atone for its military aggression of 60 years ago?
